The journal combines scientific and religious aspects of Halal research and promotes universal values. While acknowledging the substantial progress made in the scientific fields, the journal is committed to the idea that the search for solutions to human predicaments can be enhanced by referencing an epistemological framework that is not restricted to reason and observation alone but acknowledges the role of religion. The journal is intended to provide a platform for research communities from different disciplines to disseminate, exchange and communicate within the Halal research scope and represents the diverse methodological approaches to Halal research and many subfields that constitute the discipline. It also intended to encourage methodological innovation by promoting experimentation in different qualitative and quantitative research methods. The IJHR covers theoretical and applied sciences and studies related to integrating scientific knowledge and religion. The journal is a compilation of academic and research articles, review articles, conference reports, and abstracts that address contemporary issues within its scope.

The halal lifestyle has become a global trend and is no longer limited to Muslims and specific religions. It refers to consuming halal products in goods and services that adhere to Islamic law (sharia). Therefore, halal products rely on halal food and tourism, finance, cosmetics, medicine, education, fashion, medical services, logistics, and arts and culture. As a result, halal goods and services offer enormous economic potential in Indonesia, which has the world's largest Muslim population. However, the halal industry must first find innovative technology and solutions to numerous problems.

Hence, the subject areas to cover in this journal can be widely related to halal research. The subject areas will include but are not limited to food and beverages, cosmetics and personal care, pharmaceuticals, governance and compliance, media and recreation, travel and hospitality, and halal-related services, which may cover science and technology and non-science and technology.

This journal is published by the Indonesian Society for Knowledge and Human Development and follows UNESCO's recommendation on open science.

https://ijhalal.org/index.php/hr/article/view/69 Detoxification of Jojoba Meal Simmondsin by Production of Its Protein Isolates as a Protein Source in Food Applications 2024-09-07T11:04:27+00:00 Dorria M.M. Ahmed [email protected] Rasha K. Mohamed [email protected] Ferial M. Abu-Salem [email protected]
Jojoba meal is a byproduct after oil extraction and serves as an excellent source of protein. Nevertheless, the meal's presence of toxic factor simmondsin as a cyanogenic glycoside restricted its application and made the researchers seek alternative methods for its detoxification. Jojoba protein isolates were prepared by alkaline extraction at different pHs 8, 9, and 10 (JPI 8, JPI 9, JPI 10) followed by isoelectric precipitation as a procedure for detoxification of jojoba meal from simmondsin and produce safe food-grade functional ingredient (jojoba protein isolate JPI) available to use in many industrial applications. The highest protein yield (83.21%) was recorded in protein isolates extracted at pH 9 (JPI 9) with the highest protein content at 91.15%.Simmondsin content ( mg /kg ) in jojoba meal is 278.79, 5.64 in JPI8, 2.27 in JPI9, and 1.97 in JPI 10. JPI 9 achieved high levels of isoleucine, lysine, cysteine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, and threonine. High chemical protein scores in JPI 9 at 156.98 and 109.01 for threonine, phenylalanine, and tyrosine. The results revealed that JPI9 achieved the highest level and the yield of essential and nonessential amino acids it was used in enriched the biscuit with different levels (5- 10 and 15%) to produce high protein biscuit functional product as one of industrial applications
2023-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Dorria M.M. Empowering partner groups to increase knowledge and understanding of halal literacy in terms of recognizing and being able to verify halal products, especially for products that have elements of Islamic branding and advertising. The benefit obtained from this service activity is to increase the active role of partners as Muslim consumers in monitoring product consumption at school. The implementation did in several stages: identification, socialization, and implementation. Training in order to improve halal literacy on products that have elements of Islamic branding and Islamic advertising will be delivered through several materials including halal literacy regarding halal and thoyyib principles. The role of religiosity in the importance of halal awareness in choosing halal products, verification of products that contain elements of Islamic branding and advertising, halal food additives and the importance of halal certification. The results of the activity show that the partner group already understands the importance of halal products and is able to distinguish halal products, although there was still error in choosing a product because of writing halal word in Arabic letter. The level of understanding of halal literacy is not universal, grade 6 primary students have a significantly lower understanding than grade 5 and grade 4.
2023-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 T. Misconceptions drive people to think that there is no real difference between Islamic banking and the traditional financial system. The root of the issue, in author’s humble opinion, simply lies with the fact that people don’t differentiate between such concepts as “riba” and “ribh” in terms of how they are formed. This article explains the essence and nature of the formation of these two concepts, while also presenting some insights that might serve as justifications for forbidding the practice of “riba” and gives a list of Shariah requirements for the most common Islamic finance product – Murabaha.
2023-12-31T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2023 Diyas Moldabayev
